What "Moves" you to reaching your exercise goals daily... is it a Garmin watch? The next race? RAGNAR 2013? Or perhaps a slick, easy-to-use app called, Moves. For me, it is all of the above, and my family. Here's the link to the Apple iTunes Store
Moves App by Apple
I am still testing this app... and thus far, the battery life is not too hungry when leaving the app open during the moving hours. I am seeing about an additional 10 - 17% less daily depending on your phone model, other open apps, and your movement. The more you move, the more Moves is tracking your data. If the Moves app only used the internal accelerometer then it would be even less energy consumption Nevertheless, I normally charge my iPhone twice daily so it's not that big of deal. I spoke with several iOS developers and they agreed the accelerometer functions best when in a pocket, arm-band case, or securely in a pouch of some fashion. In my testing when I was viewing my screen while holding the phone my human arm acts as a stabilizer and negatively effects the accelerometer accuracy.
I also measured the Moves quantity of steps compared to the Fitbit One. And over an entire day my +Fitbit was well over 7,000 steps. Meanwhile, the Moves app only recorded 3,000. I am testing the app all of this week on both an iPhone 3GS and an iPhone 4S so... more data to come!
